Summary of Expertise
Eco-Consult Pacific has implemented and provided specialist expertise to projects funded by international organisations such as the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), the European Union (EU), the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), UNDP, FAO, Asian Development Bank (ADB), NZAID, Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), the Centre for the Development of Enterprise (CDE, formerly known as CDI), as well as a number of national governments and their institutions.
To assist with the sustainable development of Pacific Island Countries and Territories, Eco-Consult Pacific established ‘Pacific Vacancies’, a unique free electronic mail service providing information on national, regional and international vacancies. This service, which has received wide acclaim is aimed at reaching specialists at remote locations: it has distributed more than 3500 vacancies since its inception in March 1998. The Company also helped initiate and develop PestNet, as a specialist network for the diagnostics of crop pests and invasive species, and generally help bring plant protection and quarantine information to the researchers, extension staff and farming communities where it is most urgently needed.
